Scripture: “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.” Micah 7:18 (NIV) Application: No matter what we have done wrong, God still loves us. He wants us to repent and regain our fellowship with him. Our own guilt lasts longer than his anger. The best thing for us to do is to confess our sins, ask God for forgiveness, and return to fellowship with him. He’s there waiting, right now. Prayer: Dear Father, we come to you knowing that we have fallen short of what you expect of us. We have sinned. We confess our sins, and pray for your forgiveness. We want to restore fellowship with you, so that we can live the lives you intend for us to live. Amen. Scripture: “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.” Daniel 6:10-11 (NIV) Application: The world around us will move in fury, unrest, and disillusionment. We must stay centered on God. Eventually, our tranquility will make some jealous and skeptical of our sincerity toward God. Still, we must stay centered on God. Even if we become mocked or threatened, we must stay God-centered and pray for help from our loving Father, God. And while we pray from ourselves, pray for each other. Prayer: We need Your help when trouble swirls around us, Father God. Please reward our focus on You with more bravery and contentment from the indwelling Holy Spirit. We pray this same prayer for Christians all over the world. Amen. Scripture: ““The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.” Amos 8:11 (NIV) Application: As we develop our praise to God through daily reading, prayer, and meditation on His Word, how terrible it seems to have periods of no contact with the Bible. We who make God's Word part of our everyday lives are truly blessed. We should help others develop their Way out of the Word famine that spreads in the world. Prayer: Father God, thank You for making Your Word more accessible even in this world that resists You. Help us encourage others to know You by Your Word. Amen. |
