Scripture: "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead..." Philippians 3:13 NASB "We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be done away with, that we might no longer be in slavery to sin." Romans 6:6 NASB Application Although the body may get weaker, the heart, brain, and soul (and our singing voices!) can get stronger, so the sum total, net result is a better person! Christians should reflect the gratitude they have so that the world can see Christianity as the best step in personal improvement and come to Christ. "I like the me I've become more than the me that I was." Prayer: I remember what You've done for me over the years, Lord, and I like it. Thank You! Amen. Scripture: "Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14 ) "So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men, “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.' (v. 28-30) Application: The Samaritan woman in the new testament listened to Jesus. She quickly accepted living water He told her would forever quench her thirst. It was the first and most explicit time that Jesus announced to anyone in the Bible that He was the Son of God, the Messiah, Savior of the world. That woman became a core influencer. She brought others, non-Jews, to Him. His influence made her a greater influencer than ever before. Prayer: We only want Your Word to influence us, Lord Jesus! 28-30) Application: $elling out is based on nothing. Remember the Samaritan woman in John 4? Maybe she was an influencer of her time. People, especially men, seemed to be attracted to her. Her life may have seemed full, but like today's internet influencers, it was empty. She was dying of thirst. But then one day, Jesus appeared outside of His normal territory of "influence" He was in Samaria, and he was speaking to a woman. Prayer: We only want Your Word to influence us, Lord Jesus! Amen. |
