Application:
When Apostle Paul wrote to the new church in Colossae (a busy and rich trade center), he was aware that these new Christians would be in contact with many people of different faiths and traditions. In this present age of hyper-interconnectivity, we modern Christians must make the most of every opportunity to show the world our love, compassion, patience, and good citizenship. Each day, we may be the only truly caring people that some people meet.

Prayer:
Live in us and through us, Lord, so that the world sees You, and not our flaws. Amen.

Scripture:
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Application:
So often we find ourselves doing things out of routine. We may be busy, but we're not fullfilled. After all, we are given a number of days by the Lord to live out our, so we want to make the best of them. The best remedy?
Commit our lives to the Lord. He will give us the plans that lead to personal fulfillment.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, we give You our agendas. Amen.

"All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." Hebrews 11:13-16 (NIV)

Application:
Being a foreigner or refugee is not an experience most people on earth truly experience or understand. Even if your home land has treated you badly, there's something about the place you have come from that puts a deep sense of longing in your heart that never goes away.
But Christians can understand this.
We're living here as "temporary residents and foreigners," as 1 Peter 2:11 (NLT) so eloquently puts it. No matter how blessed we are to be received into a new earthly country, we have a deep longing for the place we know we belong.
Even if we can't recall or imagine exactly how it looks.
We know that our visa, passport, and citizenship comes from a government on high, and it rests on the shoulders of Jesus. (Isaiah 9:6)

Prayer:
Keep us mindful, Lord, that we are here in this domicile for a unique purpose, but let us be restless in our effectiveness. In due course, we want to come home. We long to come to You. Amen.
