Scripture:
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”” John 14:21 (NIV) Application: Obedience doesn't come easy for many of us who don't like being told what we must do. But there's a key to getting into an obedient state of mind: Love. If we are motivated by a higher principle than selfishness, we'll happily subject ourselves to the higher authority. Love. Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for showing us how to follow You. Thank You for being the first to love us. Amen.

Scripture:
“...Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.” 2 Chronicles 6:27 (NIV) Application: It may sound weird, but a shower of Godly rain during a sin-filled spiritual drought is truly a blessing. Repent. Wash away sin. At the same time, be immersed in God's refreshing newness. Start again. Prayer: Dear Lord, shower us with refreshing rain. Let Your goodness soak us through. Amen. Scripture: “Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” John 7:17 (NIV) Application: Christians needn’t worry about being duped, i.e., tricked into following someone trying to deceive us into thinking they are prophets, but they aren't. We know our Master's voice. Spend time with Him daily and you’ll actually feel it when you hear a false teaching. We who choose to do His will are equipped to discern His truth and separate it from liars. This requires confidence in Jesus and staying connected to Him. Prayer: We pray, Father, we’ll stay connected to the Lord in these times of false leaders and idols who misuse your name. Amen. |
