Scripture: “He said to the king, “This is what the Lord says: ‘You have set free a man I had determined should die. Therefore it is your life for his life, your people for his people.’ ”” 1 Kings 20:42 (NIV) Application: If we look at evil addictions in our lives the way that God looked at enemies of His chosen people, we will understand the dangers of allowing addictions to return. Once we have been set free from addictions, don't allow them space to come back. They will spread and, if not subdued, not stop spreading until they kill us. Prayer: You have given us freedom, dear God, and we thank You. Now, give us strength to remain free. Amen. Scripture: “In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.” Proverbs 21:1-2 (NIV) Application: What we hold in our hearts are the things God will use for His purpose. Prayer: Father God, make my heart pure so that Your will shall be done in glorious and beautiful Ways. Amen. Scripture: “Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.” 1 Kings 18:21 (NIV) Application: Some people worship their jobs, investments, or graduate school degrees. They may not physically bow down to them, but they put their full confidence in man-made things that always will let them down. But God asks us to worship only Him. His assurance is to be our Provider and Protector not just for a career span, but for all of eternity. Choose one. Prayer: Dear God, we choose to follow You and have You as our only Provider and Protector forever. Amen. |
