Scripture: When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!” “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.” But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. Acts 12:14-16 (NIV) Application: It is so common for us to accept defeat that when our prayers are answered, we often drown out the victory with our pessimism. If we dare, suspend disbelief and let our imaginations envision what life would be like if God granted our prayers. Practice faith with our hearts, then our minds, and finally embrace God's miracles when they happen. Prayer: Father, please keep on blessing us. When times get tough for us, send us miracles that are mind-blowing. We'd rather live in the realm of Your magnificent kingdom than the shallow existence of a faithless world. Amen. Scripture: “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-9 ESV Application: Say we have a 24 ounce cup that we’re free to fill with any beverage we want. What would we do? Try this recipe:
That 24 ounce drink is our day:
Mix, and take a big gulp every day. Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach us to be better every day at being more like You. Amen. Scripture: And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean...Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons..." Acts 10:28,34 (NIV) Application: At one point, Jews thought only Jews could believe in Christ as Savior. Now, most believers are non-Jews. Change of heart and change of viewpoints may bring us into alignment with God's vision for mankind. All things may change, but the same God exists throughout the circumstances. Prayer: Dear Father, help us to not instantly reject things that are new, and instead seek You in all new circumstances. Amen. |
