Scripture: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NLT Application: God is our guide to love. He started the definition of love in the most selfless act in all time: He gave. Gave His only Son. What's our response? Love. And we can't be loving of we aren't giving. Although we can't measure quantities of loving and giving, we know in our hearts when we're truly giving enough love. It works opposite of what we intuitively think: The more we give love, the fuller our hearts become. Prayer: Fill us with the urge to love and give, God. Amen. Scripture:
Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable? Proverbs 20:6 NLT Application: "Always reliable" is redundant, but we use the term because "reliability" is so rare that we feel the need to add "always." Only the Lord is reliable. Period. Prayer: Lord, we pray to be reliable. Amen. Scripture: But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3 NLT You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:5 NLT But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. Luke 22:26 NLT Application: So often in this world, people are obsessed about whether others are adequately respectful of their authority. But the mindset of Jesus flips this around. Their focus shouldn't be on those behind them, but who's ahead of them. Are they themselves acting with proper servitude? Prayer: Lord, help me serve better, and never to be concerned about whether others are properly serving me. Amen. |
