Scripture:
They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.” Luke 22:70 NIV So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied. Luke 23:3 NIV For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:21 NIV Application: Jesus gives us the choice, and always does. We can choose to acknowledge and praise Him as the Son of God and our Savior, or, we can choose to ignore all the evidence surrounding us and deny Him. The choice is ours: to be blessed or to be fools. Prayer: We gladly choose You as our Christ Jesus, the Son of God, and our Savior. Amen. Scripture:
Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches...I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:17, 35 NIV Application: God doesn't demand that we graduate with an advanced degree in school to be fit for Him. He doesn't love us more if we're married or unmarried. We are fit to serve Him wherever He can reach us, and that's anywhere at anytime. The only thing He wants is our undivided attention. In giving Him our undivided attention, He will make sure that we attend well to the things of this world, including our families, jobs, and activities. In other words, He'll take care of us 100%. Prayer: Father God, we give You our first priority and undivided loyalty. We trust in Your promise to take care of our loved ones, our pursuits, and ourselves wherever we are, and all the time. Amen. Scripture: "But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways. Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and said, “Because this nation has violated the covenant I ordained for their ancestors and has not listened to me, I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died." Judges 2:19-21 NIV "Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan; Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;" Judges 3:1-2 KJV Application: History teaches, but only when we know it. Studying where others have gone wrong helps us avoid repeating mistakes. Studying where others have gone right helps us develop an expectation of success. In both cases, we receive trials and tests that God is in total control over. How we react is up to us. Prayer: As the days give us tests and trials, direct us toward success, not repeated mistakes, dear Lord God. Amen. |
