Scripture: "But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways. Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and said, “Because this nation has violated the covenant I ordained for their ancestors and has not listened to me, I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died." Judges 2:19-21 NIV "Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan; Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;" Judges 3:1-2 KJV Application: History teaches, but only when we know it. Studying where others have gone wrong helps us avoid repeating mistakes. Studying where others have gone right helps us develop an expectation of success. In both cases, we receive trials and tests that God is in total control over. How we react is up to us. Prayer: As the days give us tests and trials, direct us toward success, not repeated mistakes, dear Lord God. Amen. Comments are closed.
