Scripture:
“Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth. Therefore their people turn to them and drink up waters in abundance. They say, “How would God know?Does the Most High know anything?” Psalm 73:9-11 (NIV) Application: There’s an old saying, “You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.” Implied in this is that “you can fool some people all of the time.” All it takes is a little flash of cash, a few well-spoken lies, and maybe an attractive idiot-for-hire at the elbow, and a person can win people over. Even people who profess to know God will turn their backs on Jesus in order to curry the favor of a flashy liar. Not us! Praying to God for guidance, we’ll keep the Bible tight to our chests, filtering out the deceptive talk so many others willingly fall for. Prayer: Father God, I’m so thankful that You’ve not left us out here to fall prey to liars. Help those of us who truly want to know the truth to see through the falsehoods. Amen.
