Scripture:
“The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” ... To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.” Genesis 3:12-13, 17 (NIV) Application: A marriage is a team effort. God put man and woman together so that they could strengthen each other and cover one another's blindspots. But the deceitful world always tries to invade a marriage. Mistakes happen. Instead of blaming each other, we should work together, discuss issues, and bring each person's unique viewpoint to the table so that we aren't tricked into making bad mistakes. We must never "throw our spouse under the bus," hoping to make ourselves look good. When half the boat leaks, the whole boat sinks. Prayer: Father, we who are blessed with a good spouse pray that we will support and protect her or him 100% of the time, whether they are at our sides or not. Honoring each other makes it easier for us to honor You. Amen.
