Scripture:
"Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” John 2:4 (NLT) “Jesus told them, “My time is not yet here; for you any time will do…” John 7:6 (NIV) Application: Ask anyone what they’ve been up to lately and you’ll probably hear this word in their answer: “Busy.” Everybody’s busy. But Who’d you say had the most time-critical assignment in history? Jesus. After all, everyone’s salvation depended on Him. He had just three years to gather His resources and accomplish His mission—and He didn’t publicly begin it until He was thirty. Still, He never hurried. He didn’t hurry when His mother urged Him to perform a miracle (John 2:4), or when one of His closest earthly friends lie on his deathbed (John 11:6), or when His brothers urged Him to make His debut at a big religious event (John 7:6). Jesus knew His place and time. We have to know ours. If we ask, Jesus will tell us when we need to act, just as He did for people throughout the gospel. That’s the key. We need to pray that we’ll hear God’s instructions on when to act. Prayer: Father God, thank You for giving me time. I pray that I will use it wisely throughout my life. Please clear away the demands that I don’t need to be bothered with so that I can listen for Your instruction. Amen.
