Scripture: 'While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him...When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?" Luke 24:15-16,30-32 Application: We bring our long-held prejudices and own self-righteousness to the table way too often. These stick with us so much that Jesus Himself might pass right before us and we wouldn't recognize Him! We must stop paying attention to what we think is right, and allow the scriptures to "burn in our hearts" so that we can truly have a relationship with Jesus. If we fail to let go of our prejudices and obsession with ourselves (and those we like to have around us), we'll miss not only Jesus, but also the blessed mission He has set for us. Prayer: Lord Jesus, slow us down, open our eyes, and help us toss away our wrong thoughts so that we will see You and follow You. Amen. Comments are closed.
