Scripture:
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) Application: When it comes to raising kids in a household run by professional workaholics, some parents try substituting toys for time. That is, instead of spending time with their children, these parents lavish their kids with costly gadgets. Economically poor parents resort to similar tactics, allowing television, or worst yet, the streets, raise their kids. Although many of these youngsters develop into respectable adults, more often than not, they lack proper respect for others and themselves. They don’t see a need to honor God because they’ve developed an attitude of entitlement instead of service. It starts young, and continues throughout life. Train them while they’re impressionable children. Untrained children become untrained adults who make the world awful. Their parents don’t escape, either. These same untrained children torment their parents for the rest of their lives. Prayer: Dear God, I pray for all parents facing challenges, especially single parents. I pray that You will provide them with the time, direction, and patience to nurture their children into adults who serve You and make the world a better place. Amen.
