Scripture: After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. John 17:1-4 NIV Application: When we fail in living up to our Christian standard, we sometimes say, "God has not finished with me yet." In a limited sense, it's true that our earthly service to God is not done. It's also true that we will continue to become more like Jesus as we age and apply scripture to our lives and experience the power of prayer personally. But in the most important sense, God's work for us already has finished, and we should be ecstatic about that. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has finished the most important work that has ever been or will ever be required. Here it is: Jesus Christ, God's Son, lived on Earth, carried our sins to the Cross with Him in death, and arose from the dead to be glorified by God. If we believe and accept that completed work, then we are completely saved, and that saving is permanent. Prayer: Father, we are so happy that we know the prayer that Jesus Christ prayed to You. We believe it is true. His Work is finished, and we thank You and Him for saving us forever. Amen. Comments are closed.
