Scripture: On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria...Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went... So (Phillip) started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship... Acts 8:1,4, 27 (NIV) Application: Adversity caused the church to spread. Adversity caused diversity. Because in this spreading, many who were of diverse races heard the Word of God and became believers in Christ. Black Africans in the sub-Saharan regions eagerly accepted Jesus as Lord. Today, anyone who practices racism is fighting against the intention of God to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ spread to all people. Racists also alienate themselves from the fellowship in the body of Christ that is essential to being a good, loving Christian. Prayer: Jesus, we come to You from many different origins. Heal each of us from prejudices. Give us opportunities every day to grow as loving Christians prepared to show the whole world Your Way. Amen. Comments are closed.
