Scripture: They [earthly parents] disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. Hebrews 12:10 NIV Application: Most parents raising kids do the best they can, but even the best of them make mistakes. Overly harsh parenting brings on a lack of confidence in children. They may never reach their potential if they are constantly doubting their abilities due to the wrong disciplining they received while young. God never makes mistakes in disciplining us. His motivation is to bring out the best in us. After all, it's the best in us that He wants to fellowship with eternally. He knows everyone who ever has or will exist, because He created everyone. He knows exactly what it takes to bring our best to the surface. No matter our upbringing, and especially if our early childhood experiences were troubled ones, we should take ourselves to God for help, accept His discipline, and expect that we will be formed into better people. Prayer: Father God, we want You to be our Holy Parent, and trust Your discipline. Amen. Comments are closed.
