Scripture: “You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”” Isaiah 14:13-14 (NIV) Application: The fires of hell are lit by pride. Not just the pride of being smug of your own accomplishments. That's "self absorbed" and bad enough, but it gets worse... Worse than just never finding time for God and instead spending your time with fleeting human pursuits. That's "worldliness" and bad enough, but it gets worse... The fires of hell are lit by those who know God exists, and crave to be Him. No, not just to be “like” Him—to be HIM. To have His power, His adulation, His magnificence—everything but His love, including His love for all human beings. That's Satanic, and can be identified by listening to the person who fills his sentences with "I…I...I" and never sees the need to love, praise, and serve God. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I'm thankful that You have shown me Yourself through love. I'll always love and honor You above all. In Your Son and my Savior Jesus' name, Amen.
