Scripture: “Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! ... You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’ ”” 2 Samuel 12:7, 12 (NIV) Application: If all the rants and rages that we unleash explosively upon strangers or loved ones were ever captured on video and replayed for the world to see, we'd say, "that's not me. I'm not really like that." Really? That IS us. The best thing to do is what David did: confess our sin when it is placed in front of us (see verse 13 of 2 Samuel 12). Deal with it. Right away. Ask forgiveness from those we hurt. That includes God, Who has a video of all those explosive "not me" moments for which we never confessed and asked forgiveness. We really don't want that horrible video to see the light of day, do we? Prayer: Father, we don't want our worst moments to define us. We confess our sins and pray that You will heal us at the root and help us repair all the damage we've done to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
