Scripture:
“…I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16 (NIV) ““Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword…Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me…Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.” Matthew 10: 34, 37, 40 (NIV) Application: It always happens. I dine with both Christians and non-Christians, and I’m grateful for the dinner invitations, no matter the faith. But when I bow my head to pray before a meal at a non-Christian’s home or in a restaurant there’s this uneasy silence. When I look up from my quiet prayer, eyes are focused on the food, the table, anything but me. Everyone’s respectful. Everyone’s kind. But there’s always that uneasy silence with non-Christians. And you know what? That uneasiness is fine. Jesus didn’t come to make things “easy.” He came to stir things up. To make people realize they have the power to choose, just like we Christians did. Follow Him or follow something else. When we sit and pray respectfully, we’re reminding others that a choice is readily available to them at any time. So when we feel that uneasiness, we should look up and put on a big smile. Jesus has been given a seat at the table. Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for explaining every feeling I have, and being with me wherever I go. Give me confidence. Amen. Comments are closed.
