Scripture: “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 (NIV) "When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." John 19:30 (NIV) Application: When we see a loved one suffer, many times we would willingly offer ourselves as a substitute to take on their pain and sickness instead of them. But we can't. We shouldn't. A better sacrifice exists already. Jesus died to take away all the burdens of pain, guilt, and sin for the whole world. An innocent man and the Son of God, Jesus willingly offered Himself as the last and only sacrifice the world needs. Now, it is finished (John 19:30). Call on Jesus to take away the suffering of both our loved ones and ourselves. Prayer: Father, as we see our loved ones suffer, we know that You do not delight in our pain. We pray that You will heal our loved ones and our broken hearts. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
