Scripture:
““And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.” Matthew 6:5 NIV Application: Disappointments can sometimes work to our advantage. When we expect others to admire something we've worked really hard at, many times they just yawn. They aren't impressed. That's often a good thing. We don't want to get addicted to what others think of us. When we work, let's work for God, not man (Colossians 3:23). When we pray, we should pay for God's ears, not those in the pews around us. Prayer: Dear Father, when we pray, help us to pray out of respect toward You and love for others. We pray that we won't try to flatter our fellow Christians with fake piety. The reward we seek is fellowship with You.
