Scripture: How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:29 NIV Application: We can't have it both ways. We find the hundreds of rules and laws delivered by Moses to be untenable. How can anyone obey all those rules? No one can. For that reason, in Christ Jesus, God became flesh, and sacrificed Himself as the fulfillment of every law and rule necessary for 100% Holiness. No other sacrifice is necessary or acceptable. It is a gift above all other gifts. But that honorable gift comes with a price: We must respect Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. This isn't to be taken lightly. We must revere the sacrifice that saved us. As simple as this seems, it is discounted by our human nature. We want to be self-sufficient, self-justified, and self-advancing. Every other religion, and every social system or culture lures us toward those things, no matter how humble they may try to appear. We want to be seen as moving toward enlightened awareness through our own actions. But we can't. Instead, with humility, let's meditate on Christ Jesus as God's extension of a Holy gift toward us. Accept Him. That in turn makes us a Holy gift extended toward God. Prayer: Christ Jesus, thank You for becoming everything I couldn't become myself and bringing me to God. Amen. Comments are closed.
