Scripture:
“So they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. Then the king’s fury subsided.” Esther 7:10 (NIV) Application: A racist seeks the destruction of an entire group of people for no reason other than their ethnicity, creed, or skin color. Haman in the book of Esther felt this way about Jews. False pride fueled this hatred. Don't be fooled, hatred in the heart is tantamount to murder in Jesus's eyes (Matthew 5:21,22). But racism kills the racist, too. It may be a slow killing, but the racist's heart rots every day with a cancer of destruction. The racist can be assured that she or he will die either suddenly with pain and embarrassment—like Haman's death at his own scaffolding—or slowly, with a burning internal combustion. God doesn't accept racism in His peaceable kingdom (Isaiah 11). Prayer: Dear Father, the Creator of all mankind, create in me a clean heart. Please show me where I have racist tendencies. I want to live without prejudice. I want to please You by loving all people as You do. I give You my poisoned past, please throw it and racist people out of my life and let me grow into Your peaceful kingdom of many hues.
