Scripture: "Some people brought children to Jesus so that he would place his hands on them and pray. But the disciples scolded them. “Allow the children to come to me,” Jesus said. “Don’t forbid them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people like these children.” Matthew 19:13,14 CEB "When he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was there, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, show me mercy!” Many scolded him, telling him to be quiet, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, show me mercy!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him forward.” They called the blind man, “Be encouraged! Get up! He’s calling you.” Throwing his coat to the side, he jumped up and came to Jesus." Mark 10:47-50 CEB Application: Sometimes the church is the biggest obstacle between Jesus and lost people. We need to stop the formalities. There’s no dress code to come to Jesus. He does the cleaning up, not the church building. All that’s required is for people to submit themselves to Him for cleaning. So, the church needs to receive people as they are, with all their dirtiness, baggage, and socially-unacceptable habits. At one point, that was us, and none of us is 100% clean even now. Don’t be a hypocrite building fortresses around our churches. Prayer: Lord Jesus, we are not to get between the sinner and You. Point out the places where we've blocked You out so that we can knock down those walls of separation. Amen. Comments are closed.
