Scripture: "...the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness..." Romans 2:15 NIV "So [Sampson] told [Delilah] everything. “No razor has ever been used on my head,” he said, “because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man.”Judges 16:17 NIV Application: People know when they're doing wrong. They know their historical position, i.e., their foundation in God's eyes. Yet they choose to stray from it, e.g.: ° Sampson: “because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb.. .” (Judges 16:17) ° Micah: “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest.” (Judges 17:13) ° Danites (after apparently using their own kids as human barricades and attacking peaceful people): "Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a people at peace and secure. They attacked them with the sword and burned down their city." (Judges 18:27) ◦ The Jews who wanted Jesus crucified: "His blood be on us and on our children!" (Matthew 27:25) Regardless of whether people follow an earthly king, they know right from wrong. It's universally true in all cultures in all times, even with the "first couple," Adam and Eve (see Genesis 3:8) But the flesh makes them disregard the sanctity of human life and the will of God. We must subdue the flesh and bow to God. He will help. Prayer: We want You to help us fight to win against the corruption of the flesh wherever it rears its head within us. Thank You for convicting us. Now, aid us in turning things around. Amen. Comments are closed.
