Scripture: ““The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.” Luke 16:8 (NIV) “David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”” 1 Chronicles 21:13 (NIV) Application: When we act a fool and sin, God reacts in two Ways: 1. He gives us justice, which is punishment for our sin, just as we deserve. 2. He gives us unmerited favor, blessing us despite our sin. In actuality, God's justice (#1) is almost always--if not always--less punishment than we deserve, and we know it. Likewise, God's unmerited favor (#2) is usually so great that we can't deny that He is reacting with more kindness than we deserve. Now it's time to do something about our sin. The best thing to do is confess our sins and try to make it right by everyone we've hurt. Quickly. And then brace ourselves. God will react. Prayer: Father, Your Word teaches us Your Ways. You always treat us better than we deserve. When we mess up, help us to atone for sin right away and to recognize Your kindness so that we don't keep sinning. Amen.
