Scripture: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2 NIV “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,” Philippians 3:13 NIV “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” Psalms 40:2 KJV "No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another." Psalm 75:6-7 NIV “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;” Psalm 121:1-3 NIV Application: We can't look down or behind us to be rescued from our current condition. Beneath us is the world's sinking quicksand. Behind us there are shattered promises and past failings. Above us is the only Way out. God extends His hand to lift us up and away from misery, depression, and sin. But this rescue starts when we look up, not down, and not back. Prayer: Father, we strive to look up to You to rescue us from the misery that we can't escape by ourselves. Amen. Comments are closed.
