Scripture: All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth...Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them...These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. Hebrews 11:13, 16-16, 39-40 NIV Application: Faith is looking forward to something we don't see. In fact, we may never see in this life what we yearn for. We talk of dreams, make plans, and leave bad places of our hearts, minds, and bodies like refugees fleeing horrors of places they once called home. When we are living by faith, we are all refugees. Our Rescuer is God, Who already has planned something better for us...even before we imagined it. What we are looking forward to is waiting for us. Have faith. Prayer: We look forward to the better things You have waiting for us, dear God. Amen. Comments are closed.
