Scripture: "For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. Romans 11:21 (NIV) "God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable" Romans 11:29 (NIV) Application: Most Christians are Gentiles, not Jews. Some Christians boast of their own enlightenment as they look down on the errant behavior of non-believing Jews. Indeed, too many Christians look down on other Christians and judge them unworthy. Careful! God never has, and never will forsake His chosen people, the Jewish nation. His covenant is irrevocable (v.29). And that should cause us non-Jews to be delighted. Because that also means that we, as people who have been grafted into His kingdom with full benefits (v. 17 of Romans 11), will never be forsaken either. In other Words, God will continue to call us to repentance and reconciliation with Him, but we must answer His call while we still have time. The same thing that applies to Jews, applies to us. Prayer: Father, when any of Your children stray, and that includes us, we pray that You will gently show us the Way back. We pray for compassion and understanding toward all people. Amen.
