Scripture: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV) Application: At funerals, so many references are made about Jesus Christ and the person who has passed away. But what about that vast period between birth and death? How often did that person refer to Jesus Christ? Did Jesus know the sound of that person's voice as he our she prayed to Jesus for direction? How often did the person give thanks to the Lord? It's better late than never, of course, but it's much better early than late. Prayer: Jesus, we know Your Name, and we call upon it daily. Hear our prayers that this evil-soaked world will repent, know You, and be known by You. Amen. Comments are closed.
