Scripture:
A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.
Proverbs 16:28 NIV

Application:
The church should be the haven where no one's secrets or struggles should ever be spread among the body. But that's not the case. Be the person who is bold enough to interrupt gossip with an offer of prayer or an overture of reconciliation. Resisting gossip cultivates our own reputation as a mender, not a destroyer. God is glad when His body is peaceful and loving; a refuge from the world's backbiting.

Prayer:
We welcome the Holy Spirit's guidance when conflict and gossip tries to harm Your church, dear Lord. Amen.
