Scripture:
"that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.” Joshua 4:6-7 KJV

It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them." Psalms 44:1,3 NIV


Application:
It's important to establish history markers, and to keep accurate recollections of the past. If history is forgotten, or if it is left in the hands of others to mischaracterize, future generations won't know their actual worth, nor will they have a stronger relationship with the God Who gave them this worth. When you know, you're unafraid and you're thankful to God.
