​If our lights don't shine today, shame on us (part 1)

Scripture:
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 5:13-16 NASB

Application:
The world is coming apart at the seams, it appears. We need the Word of God to focus us on the Only thing we can have hope for: the peace that comes when we place all our troubles and fears with our Savior Jesus. All else is vanity, or meaningless (Eccle 1:2). Yet meanwhile, with all these injustices going on, all the sickness, the fear, the economic turmoil, all the accusations and plain stupidity, it is difficult to not be sad when we look at what mankind has done to ruin this world instead of preserve and share it as God intended for His glory.

Prayer:
Let the lights You put inside us burn brightly in the dangerously vain world, because You are its only hope. Amen.
