Scripture:
"[Leah] conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children." Genesis 29:35 (NIV) Application: Leah was not loved or wanted by her husband, Jacob. Trying to gain his love, she gave him three sons, and each time thought Jacob would love her. He never came to love her as much as he loved his other wife, Rachel. Leah stopped trying to please Jacob and instead, with the fourth child, decided to give thanks to God alone. We have to see our lives this way. We can't seek appreciation from people. Some will accept us, but many will never accept us. Stop seeking their approval. From the very beginning of our day, we should focus on God, and God alone. He created us to be just who we are, with our looks, personality, and ambition. Seeking only His approval takes away depression brought on by feelings of inadequacy. Prayer: Dear Father, You are the only Person Who counts. If we please You, then we don’t have to worry about feeling inadequate according to anyone else’s standards. Please press this reality in our minds all day long. Amen.
