Scripture: 'After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. Luke 8:1-3(NIV) 'And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. ' 2 Corinthians 8:5 (NIV) 'When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.' Luke 18:23 (NIV) Application: Christ Jesus doesn't want our money, nor our sexuality, nor our drugs, nor our powerful titles. In fact, He doesn't want anything except this: Us. So when we are asked to tithe, be abstinent or faithful to our spouse, toss away our addictive drugs, or take the humble path of non-recognition in society, we do so not because Christ wants to collect those things for Himself. He doesn't need them. He wants us to be free of the entanglements of sin. He is willing to remove all the addictions and controlling demons from us if we give ourselves to Him 100%. He wants us, not what has us. Prayer: Christ Jesus, we want to throw away any unHoly thing that controls us. Please take them all away so that we can be free vessels ready to experience the joy of a full life, just as You desire for us. Amen. Comments are closed.
