Scripture: "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) Application: If we want to become better in some targeted area, we have to be around people whom we perceive as better in those areas than ourselves. That means we will feel inadequate. Consider Paul, for instance. As far as credentials are concerned, Paul was among the most learned of all Jews, "although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more.."(Philippians 3:4). Yet Paul felt humbled by the mission Christ gave him, "Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ," (Eph. 3:8). Paul didn't see himself as the world saw him, but as he thought he SHOULD BE, given his mission. No matter how much he accomplished, it would not be "worthy." That's good. Humility drives us to Christ, Whose sacrifice and power are all that matter. Prayer: Father, help us understand that the feelings of inadequacy that we have are not always bad. Through humility, we grow in our abilities to give You glory. Amen. Comments are closed.
