Scripture:
Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Matthew 19:21 NLT

Application:
Jesus Christ provides the same message, and it cures what ails each hearer. For the selfish rich person, Jesus' message reveals what that person must release to be heaven-centered, and not remain captive to material wealth. To the poor, it provides an earthly source of supply (charitable gifts) to help make living easier.

The Bible is forever unchanging, yet it meets us wherever our needs are.

Prayer:
Jesus, we look only to You for guidance on how to deal with selfishness and poverty. Amen.
