"Emptying."Scripture: “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.” Philippians 2:5-7 Application: Prayer as an act of emptying has two parts, and we only usually focus on the first: • Emptying. We empty our burdens on God. That's perfectly right to do. He wants to take our burdens, He wants to receive the concerns of our lives. Prayer allows this. But there's a second part: • Receiving. They say "nature hates a vacuum," so when we empty ourselves in prayer, as Christ did, we have created space for God to fill us. The Holy Spirit comes, comforts us, guides us, and assures us when we are on the right path, and convicts us when we are not. It all starts with prayer, the great "emptying and filling“ act of love God has given us. Prayer: Father, we exalt our praises to You! Thank You for accepting our burdens as well as our joyful praises. Now, we pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit upon and within all who are willing to receive Him. Amen. Comments are closed.
