downplay self, never Jesus

Scripture:
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
1 Corinthians 3:18 ESV

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

He must increase, but I must decrease.

Application:
Humility is a rarity. Each hour, we are tempted to project false images of who we want the world to think we are. 
*Social media is like makeup pre-packaged and ready to be applied to our already fake faces. 
*Resumes are bloated with overemphasized half-truths (or no truths at all). 
*Our conversations are shifted to talk about ourselves wherever we get a chance. 

But with every inch we tiptoe to increase our stature, we sink down another foot in our worthiness to serve God. It's better to take the back seat and serve the Lord now rather than to realize later that our lives were empty episodes of wasted opportunity.

Prayer:
Lord, help me keep my mind off of myself and onto Your work for me. Amen.
