Scripture: Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper, yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you —since I am such a person as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus— I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my imprisonment, who formerly was useless to you, but now is useful both to you and to me. Philemon 1:8-11 NASB Application: No matter what Onesimus said, he would never be in the position to change the heart of Philemon. The more powerful Philemon could only be persuaded by Paul, someone of equal or greater stature than Philemon. In life, we can't look to the victim to propose and implement solutions. If attempted, resentment and backlash will follow. The victim becomes re-victimized. Change has to be persuaded from someone at least as powerful as the oppressor. Prayer: Lord, embolden the powerful influencers to make things right for victims. Amen. Comments are closed.
