Scripture: "Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away. ... Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good." Psalms 90:10,15 NLT "History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new." Ecclesiastes 1:9 NLT "As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8 NLT "The godly can look forward to a reward, while the wicked can expect only judgment." Proverbs 11:23 NLT Application: Although most of us aren't ready to go just yet (!), consult the wise older people. If they are Christian, they will make us better understand God's magnificent eternal plan for all of us. Don't be afraid, even if the worst that we can imagine happens. A prize awaits. Prayer: Lord, comfort us in our mere mortality. Remind us of the glory You've pre-arranged for each of us. We eagerly await Your return. Now, our prayers are for the comfort, safety, and peace of the living, not the dead. Amen. Comments are closed.
