Compassion beyond our own.

Scripture:
"And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?” Jonah 4:11 (NIV)
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

Application:
God has compassion for those who proclaim themselves as His enemies, and even the animals surrounding them. Jonah, God's own prophet, resisted God's call to preach repentance to the huge, immoral city of Nineveh. But God took drastic measures to get his prophet to preach a way out of the wrath that God was preparing to deliver on that evil city. Despite what people incorrectly claim is a mean-spirited Old Testament God, He is actually more loving than any of us...and He always has been. (Hebrews 13:8)

Prayer:
Dear Father, how marvelous it is to see how You will go to extreme measures to save the lost. We are beneficiaries of Your compassion. We pray that we can hold Your spirit of forgiveness and compassion in our own hearts. Amen.
