Scripture: “Then the Lord raised up against Solomon an adversary, Hadad the Edomite, from the royal line of Edom. And God raised up against Solomon another adversary, Rezon son of Eliada, who had fled from his master, Hadadezer king of Zobah. Also, Jeroboam son of Nebat rebelled against the king. He was one of Solomon’s officials, an Ephraimite from Zeredah, and his mother was a widow named Zeruah.” 1 Kings 11:14, 23, 26 (NIV) Application: To get us on the right track again, or to stop us when our sin has gone too far, God may use our enemies. These may be people who are not Christians. God also may use those among His own people to rebel against us when our sin has gotten completely out of hand. In each case, God takes aggressive tendencies already in our adversaries and uses them to protect His Kingdom. There's another beautiful truth here. We see how we can rest securely inside God's kingdom. We see the lengths He goes through to protect us. Prayer: Father, we don't want to allow sin to pollute the beautiful relationship between You and us. Please help us see the warning signs before our sin grows so bad that You must discipline us in order to protect Your Holy kingdom. Give us clear direction, and the power to resist the devil and change. And thank You, Loving Father, for protecting Your kingdom forever against all adversaries. Amen. Comments are closed.
