Scripture: 'Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. ' 2 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV) You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:2,3 (NIV) Application: A good letter of recommendation must come from someone with high credibility. We can see credibility through the company that person keeps. In the history of the world, the best company to have been in was to be in the company of Jesus. Having as much direct contact with Jesus's public ministry as anyone, Apostle Peter had unquestionably great credibility. So it was a huge thing when Peter gave Paul, a reformed sinner and church persecutor, his personal letter of recommendation. Peter referred to Paul as wise, and said all of Paul's letters to the church were to be followed and not twisted. In effect, Peter was saying that we should follow what Paul has said. Given that, isn't a great thing that Apostle Paul is willing to write a glowing letter of recommendation for us? Consider that. How do we get it? Just open our hearts to Jesus Christ, and allow His Holy Spirit to guide us. Prayer: Jesus Christ, mold us into Your letters of recommendation for the world to read. Amen. Comments are closed.
