Scripture: "'He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled: ‘When they look, they won’t really see. When they hear, they won’t understand.’' Luke 8:10 (NLT) Application: When we sincerely want to know truth and absorb the wisdom of Jesus, it will be freely given when requested. (James 1:5) But where there is idol worship, i.e., a desire to self-justify, self-promote, or simply seek anything in the interest of "self" and not serving Jesus, wisdom will be clouded. Like good seed sowed upon the ground, wisdom will be there, but it won't flourish. In other words, those with impure motives will see what they want to see, and hear what they want to hear. ( 2 Timothy 4:3) The end result is a shriveled existence of self-delusion. Prayer: Jesus, we believers thank You for being so clear in Your explanations and guidance given to us. We're sorry that we waver at times because of the fleshly side of our creation. But our innermost persons, our blessed souls, recognize You and yearn to follow Your Way. We submit our minds, bodies, and souls to Your leadership. Amen. Comments are closed.
