“As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions…Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another?…It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions…So then each of us will give an account of himself to God…So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding…The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.” Romans 14:1,4,12,19,22 ESV Application: When we know we are right, it's best to not showcase our conviction in being right. Each person on earth will be individually accountable to God. That includes believers, non-believers, and those in-between. Don’t be unduly worried about “saving souls.” Pray, make gentle and non-irritating suggestions, but certainly don't nag when we know the other person doesn’t want to hear us. God will give every one the strength required to get on and stay on the right path. In other words, none of us is accountable for the actions of others. But we must not create obstacles for them. That’s especially true if we impose our opinions and beliefs on them—even if those opinions and beliefs are right! If we quarrel with people, cause stress in our family and work relationships, and pass harsh judgment on others, we will be held accountable for those actions. We may be doing more harm than good. Pursue peace. Shut up more often. Show love instead of judgment. After all, it's love, not judgment, that God empowered us to share. Prayer: We want to be strongest Lord, so calm us into peacefulness. Amen. Comments are closed.
