​Any lions in your life?

Scripture:
But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Application:
Compare the affirmations of David and Paul. Although about a century separated the old and new testament heroes, their formulas for success were identical. The heroes:

1. Confronted an obstacle head on;

2. Remembered how the Lord delivered them to victory in the past;

3. Strongly affirmed that the Lord would deliver them again.

This formula doesn't just work for David and Paul. That same Lord lives now, so this same formula works for us...and not just against lions!

Prayer:
No matter the obstacle, we know without a doubt that You will deliver us to victory again and again, Lord Jesus. Amen.
