Scripture: "Woe to those who enact evil statutes and to those who constantly record unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice and rob the poor of My people of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and that they may plunder the orphans." Isaiah 10:1-2 NASB "Faith without works is dead." (James 2:17). Application: No longer can we say "tsk, tsk, tsk...somebody should do something about that." WE are the somebodies. We can do something. Maybe not change the whole situation of unfairness, but this is something new to most of us in 2020: Our silence helps evil flourish. In other words, we can do something. We can avoid shouting matches, but we can peaceably call out evil and make it our "work" that James talked about. Yes, it seems corny, but some can write politicians. Some can chat with people demographically unlike us. Maybe just give a compliment to a stranger at a grocery store. Maybe that'll be an angel confirming what we know is a step in the right direction, leading to healing. Maybe. Prayer: Lord, we pray that every night before we go to bed we can point to one thing, even a minor one, that helped share Your bounty with someone who is not treated justly in this world. Amen.
