Scripture: "The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep."John 21:17 NIV Application: To understand how Peter could be transformed from the disciple who denied Jesus three times when Jesus was in His worst straits, and become a bold, most influential evangelist in the book of Acts, we should put ourselves in Peter's shoes. Just imagine the person we love most, and who loves us most. And then imagine this person is in need of help. And we abandon them. Worse, we even deny that we know them. The thought of that may bring us to tears. Just like Peter. But then imagine something incredible: we get a second chance. That person survives and forgives us. With this mindset, we understand Peter better, and his motivation to give all that he had to do better in his second chance, one that was unearned and undeserved. It was God's grace. Let's keep that attitude of gratitude. Prayer: Dear Jesus, in our second chances, we love and serve You. Amen. Comments are closed.
